Friday 21st April, 7pm
Oaklands Centre, Warsop
Organised by Frack Free Nottinghamshire
Come along to find out more about Fracking and how it will affect Warsop if it is allowed to go ahead. The area has been licenced by the government for fracking company INEOS to explore for shale gas. Friends of the Earth have discovered that INEOS is looking at a site at The Lings just outside of Warsop. This event will cover what fracking is, how it is done, the health and environmental dangers that it poses, and what you can do to prevent it happening.

This is a free event with free food and drink and activities for all ages. Find out about exciting plans to build a new straw-bale, timber framed roundhouse on the site. At 2pm there will be a presentation of the design of Whistlewood by Sarah Spencer, lead designer to the project. This will be the culmination of three year’s work on Sarah’s Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. There will be an opportunity ask questions about the design of the site, and also of the organisational structure and ways of working. There will be an opportunity to find out how to become a member and invest in the roundhouse and associated infrastructure. Without Whistlewood’s fantastic members none of this would have happened.

Frack Free Nottinghamshire are attending three events in the next month to spread the message about possible fracking in the area (see local news item about planning permission recently granted) and are looking for volunteers to help at them:
- Tour de Retford, Sunday 16th April, 8am-1pm. The route for this charity cycle ride goes through areas that are licensed for shale gas exploration. Come along to talk to cyclists about how fracking will affect cycling in the area. http://bit.ly/2oo9xCM
- TUC May Day Rally, Saturday 29th April, 10.30am-1:30pm, starting at Mansfield Civic Centre. Paul Frost of Frack Free Mansfield will be speaking at this May Day rally. Volunteers are needed to staff stalls at the start and end of the march route. http://bit.ly/2o4aEWt
- Retford Charter Day, Monday 1st May, 10am-4pm. Frack Free will have a stall at this event and are looking for volunteers to help staff it. With two applications to explore for shale gas now approved in Bassetlaw, now is a good time to raise awareness about potential fracking in the area. http://bit.ly/2p4Bgeq
