1.  MedInfo2017 - Early Bird Registration Deadline reminder - April 17, 2017 




A quick reminder to all that the early bird registration deadline for MedInfo 2017 is April 17, 2017 - http://medinfo2017.medmeeting.org/Content/32507. Hotel Accommodation is now available on the website with more options being added over the next days -  http://medinfo2017.medmeeting.org/Content/56613. 

Many have been asking about the formal invitation letter for required travel visa application.  Once you have registered for the conference, you may request your invitation letter - http://medinfo2017.medmeeting.org/Content/32522

2.  IMIA 2017 General Assembly Meeting at MedInfo 2017 - August 22, 2017, Hangzhou, China

The next IMIA General Assembly will be held at MedInfo 2017 in Hangzhou, China on August 22, 2017.   Reminders and more details will be sent to the General Assembly members closer to the date of the meeting.   The agenda will include voting on the MedInfo 2021 bids to determine where the 2021 congress will be held.

IMIA will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary at MedInfo 2017, commemorating its beginning as Technical Committee 4, TC4 on Medical Informatics, of IFIP in 1967.  We look forward to celebrating with you in
Hangzhou this August.  

 
 

3. MedInfo 2021 Bid Deadline May 1, 2017

 The deadline for IMIA Member Societies to bid to host MedInfo 2021 is May 1, 2017.  Bids for MedInfo are only accepted by fully paid IMIA Society Members, no bids from any other organizations or agencies will be accepted or acknowledged.
 
The winning bid will be voted on by the IMIA General Assembly on August 22, 2017 in Hangzhou, China during MedInfo2017.

Unsolicited bids and speculative queries on bidding from conference organizers, convention bureaux, and other bodies will not be accepted nor will they be acknowledged. The IMIA Office does not enter into discussion with conference/event organizers, convention/tourism bureaux etc. about MedInfo’s, only with IMIA’s fully paid Members Societies– http://imia-medinfo.org/wp/imia-member-societies/.

5. IMIA Congratulates Dr. Marion Ball recognized at the HIMSS Most Influential Women in Health IT Awards Ceremonies


 

IMIA congratulates Dr. Marion Ball for being named an inaugural recipient of HIMSS Most Influential Women in Health IT Award on February 20, 2017 at the HIMSS2017 Conference in Orlando, Florida.  Dr. Ball served as the IMIA President from 1992 to 1995 and continues to be a consistent supporter of our organization.   Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ball on this most deserving award of recognition of her unending contributions and dedication!

6. University of Victoria Announces a new Graduate Certificate Program in Health Terminology Standards - Victoria BC, Canada

The Asia Pacific Association for Medical Informatics, APAMI, is the official Asia-Pacific regional group within the IMIA and represents an extension of IMIA's global interests in promoting Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in health.


The European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) is the leading organisation in medical informatics in Europe and represents 32 countries. EFMI is organized as a non-profit organisation concerned with the theory and practice of Information Science and Technology within Health and Health Science in a European context.  It is the autonomous European Regional Council of IMIA. 


HELINA, Health Informatics in Africa, is the pan African Health Informatics Association and the Africa Region of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). HELINA is officially registered under the Malian law.


IMIA LAC is Latin America and the Caribbean region of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). It is to act as a bridge organization, bringing together constituent organizations and members of the region, providing leadership and multidisciplinary experience to improve health services, aimed at the community and policy makers, enabling the transformation of health care in accordance with The world vision of improving the health of the world population.

The IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics is published annually.  



The IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics 2016 with the theme “Unintended Consequences: New Problems and New Solutions", with a keynote paper from D. F. Sittig, A. Wright, J. Ash, and H.
