 St. Vincent Family Retreat: May 19-21

Dear St. V's,
As I write, the campus is abuzz with parishioners preparing for tonight's Seder and Mass of the Last Supper. And in the dining room are the various items we will need for the Vigil and celebration of the Resurrection. I invite you also to look ahead a few weeks to the parish's annual spring retreat.

A Weekend with Thomas Merton: A Light Shining in the Darkness
Nawakwa Retreat Center in Biglerville, PA. (near Gettysburg)
Retreat Director: Dr. Monica Weiss, SSJ

During the retreat we will take time to discover how:
Thomas Merton can inspire us to be light in the darkness;
The land gave Thomas Merton a sense of “home;”
Merton's love of nature transformed his prayer;
Merton's interest in Celtic spirituality can help us make time for solitude;

Peaceful, Spiritual, Community Building, and Fun!

St. V's is to be the fortunate recipient of a large team of volunteers on this day of service for Comcast employees and friends. Over 35 people will be here to mulch our parking lot gardens and paint the undercroft and double classroom in the rectory. Comcast covers the cost of all materials. Volunteers from St. Vincent's are welcome and encouraged.
Purses for Project PLASE
This organization that improves the lives of homeless citizens needs your gently used purses, backpacks, attaches, change purses, etc.  As a fundraiser it sells these bags at Flower Mart on May 5-6. However this year, all its purses were destroyed in a fire! Bring your donations to St. V on or before Sunday April 23.
Remember to bring your CRS Rice Bowls on the Sunday after Easter!

Prayer Walk

Thursday, April 27 at Saint Benedict (2612 Wilkens Ave).

The evening begins with a meal at 5:30 p.m. and ends before 7:30 p.m.

Participants pray at locations that have been affected by violence, for those individuals so terribly affected by violence, and for a change of heart in those given to violence.  Step out in faith to reclaim our city for Christ.
