Dear ASB Families,

As a Leadership Team, we feel it is important to hear from us, your teachers and staff members, regarding the recent events at ASB.  The Leadership Team is comprised of multiple staff members who represent each grade level.  Our job is to provide an additional line of communication between faculty/staff and the administration, work with the administration on key decisions, and address concerns or issues that arise.

Today, second grade families were notified that Paulette Rigali, 2B aide, has resigned from her position.  We understand that the perception right now among many is that the ASB faculty and staff are unhappy to a point they are willing to leave prior to the end of the school year.  Given the events of this year, we understand why parents perceive that this is the case. This perception and the actions of a few individuals do not accurately represent or reflect the feelings of the faculty and staff as a whole.  Each of these events had unique circumstances that led to the outcome.  While everyone at ASB must respect Human Resources code and the confidentiality of the individuals involved, we want to emphasize that we have knowledge of these circumstances and they are, without a doubt, unique to these individuals.

We want to emphasize that we believe that our focus should always be what is best for students.  Students do not deserve to have their teachers leaving mid-year.  We believe in the professionalism of fulfilling contractual obligations and acting in a professional manner at all times.  Please know that the few individuals who have left mid-year do not represent the faculty and staff as a whole.  We are and will continue to be committed to the students, the families, and the community of ASB School.

We know we have many areas of growth and we will continue to work with Christina, Jeff, and Fr. Oliver to improve our school.  We want to do this because we believe in the excellence of ASB.  We believe in our mission and in the education we are providing to our students.  We support the continued professional growth of every member of our faculty and staff, including our administrators.

Your partnership with us as we navigate this year’s challenges is vital.  We are asking that you help us by being professional as parents.  We are asking that you please refrain from making assumptions or judgments without having the full knowledge of the situation. The only way we work as a community is by having trust, respect, and faith.  While you may not see it, please understand that any negative rumors and actions that happen outside of our school building directly affect every one of us inside, students and adults.  We are all a part of this school community for a reason: we believe in it.  There is so much good to believe in at ASB.

Thank you for your partnership and for continuing to build up this community alongside us.  We are all incredibly blessed to be a part of Assumption-St. Bridget School.  Have a restful break with your families, taking time to celebrate all of the good we have in our lives.

All our best,

The Assumption-St. Bridget School Leadership Team
Kathleen Conklin, Mark Dougherty, Gerrie O’Leary, Steve Dougherty, Heidi Pouley, Jan Myers, Mark Hastings, and Christina Dougherty
