This is it. The end of the series. Six books and half a million words. It all comes down to this.

This book is coming out later than I had hoped due to a whole list of production problems. It seems like everything that could go wrong with getting this book out did go wrong---but eventually I got over them. Hopefully you'll agree that it's worth the wait :).

The stunning climax to The Powers of Amur.

The last alliance is shattered. The Emperor's body lies in the dust of the battlefield, and the Mouth of the Devourer marches unchallenged towards the holy city of Virnas. There is nothing left to do except run.

Navran escapes with a few others and heads south, hoping to find a place where they can make a last stand. They leave behind the temples and palaces of Virnas to reach the last free city of Amur---but will it be any more than a temporary respite? The Devoured are on their heels, and no wall in Amur has stopped them yet.

Mandhi and her companions flee in a different direction, in hopes of reaching Kalignas where the Mouth of the Devourer will not follow them. But along the way, they meet a strange slave woman, fleeing from the Mouth of the Devourer for reasons of her own. Her past will ensure that none of them avoid the Devourer's wrath.

And as the hour of destruction draws near, the Book of the Powers gives up its final secret.
