Dear parents,
My name is Elena Gómez (probably some of you can remember me from your Conference in Seville). I belong to a team of lecturers and researchers in Developmental Psychology, Education, Sociology and Languages at different European Universities: Coventry University – UK; the University of Córdoba – Spain; Marmara University – Turkey; and the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon – Portugal. At present we are working on a project into the factors (both cross cultural and individual) that affect the extent to which children demonstrate gender-stereotyped behaviour in their play.
We are looking to recruit the primary caregivers of children between the ages of 3 and 5 year old children for a study. The study would involve primary caregivers being interviewed about their children’s play preferences and about their own beliefs about gender stereotypes and the origins of these beliefs. They would then be given online access to questionnaires for themselves, and each adult member of their household, to complete.
The deadline to complete this questionnaire is 30th April 2017.
Moreover, we will keep you updated on the results of the research as soon as we collect and analyze the data from all European countries participating in the study.
