Market opening heralds new era for sector


There was nervous excitement across the water sector on April 1 as the new water market opened in England – giving 1.2 million businesses, charities and public sector bodies the freedom to shop around for a better deal on their retail services. Choice will bring challenges but CCWater is geared up and ready to provide support to customers who need impartial advice or help resolving any complaints or issues that arise. Read more about our role in helping non-household customers

Four companies reverse spike in complaints


Four water companies challenged by CCWater to reverse an alarming rise in written complaints from customers in 2016/17 are all on track to improve this year. That’s according to the latest figures reported to us by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Southern Water, Affinity Water and Bournemouth Water. Read more about their improvements

Martin Lewis Money Show triggers surge in water calculator hits


Our popular water meter calculator experienced a huge surge in visitors at the end of March when Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis once again featured the tool on ITV This Morning and his Money Show Live. More than 20,000 people clicked onto the calculator during the evening of the live show. Have you tested the water to see if you might be better off on a meter? Give it a go

CCWater appoints new Head of Policy and Research


CCWater will have a new head of policy and research from mid-May after the appointment of Dr Mike Keil. Mike – who is currently Business Leader for Asset Strategy at Severn Trent Water – will pick up the reins from the retiring Deryck Hall, who has been a leading figure at the consumer watchdog since its inception in 2005. Read more about Dr Keil’s appointment

Money-saving advice is no April Fool


With the average annual water and sewerage bill set to rise by £6 this month, we’ve been busy sharing our top tips with consumers on how to soak up savings and ensure price rises don’t make an April Fool of their finances. Water Saving Week creates a wave of interest


The third annual Water Saving Week took place across social media in late March with CCWater throwing its weight behind Waterwise’s campaign as an official partner. The campaign was packed full of daily tips, ideas and challenges to encourage people to save water at home, work, school, in the garden and the wider community.
