From the Principal

Ellen Stewart

Here are a few words of wisdom.
Think of someone you know who has real character . . . someone who is
honest, self-disciplined, and respected . . . maybe a parent or a faith leader,
a teacher or a friend.
Did you know that the word character literally means "to engrave"? People
with character have engraved honesty and respectability into their daily
lives . . . like musicians engraving sound tracks on a CD.
So here's something to think about: With every thought, word, and deed, we are recording, engraving the traits and qualities that will determine our
future character. A Greek philosopher by the name of Heraclitus
(her A cli tus) once said:

A man's character is his fate.

In other words, what you are engraving into your life now will determine
your future. As you move through the day, ask yourself: What kind of tracks
am I laying down for myself, and where will they lead me?

Here at North we have a unique opportunity to provide additional math tutoring support to our students, and you could be part of this! We are looking to fill positions for Math Corps tutors for the 2017-2018 school year.

This is a great opportunity to build career skills, receive a living allowance, and earn an education award for yourself, your child, or your grandchild.

Sign up for the Middle School Ultimate Frisbee League is going on now till April 3rd.  Practice begins April 10th; location at time is TBD by coach.  Program fee is $110 and you can register at  www.MinnesotaUltimate.org.  For more information, you can email info@MinnesotaUltimate.org or get a flier from the office.
Every Wednesday at North all staff are encouraged to wear college apparel to promote college awareness. Students that are aware of opportunities available to them through a college education are mo likely to attend higher education upon graduation. Students are also encouraged to apply themselves at North through self-discipline, grit and persistence, which are strong characteristics for a successful college experience.  We at North want to keep students thinking of their future and the importance of a college education.

We will now start hosting after school detention for misconduct. After school detention will be an alternative to suspension. Students are to make it to After School Detention by 3:25pm. If you are late you will be assessed an extra day of detention. If students fail to make it to after-school-detention they will be assessed in-school-suspension.
