KC Streetcar Update | April  2017

KC STREETCAR ADDS TO SUNDAY SERVICE
The KC Streetcar will begin extended Sunday service hours this Sunday, April 9.

The new Sunday service schedule will run streetcars from 7:00 a.m. and until 11:00 p.m., adding an extra hour in the evening. This change is based on ridership demand and downtown activity.

Sunday is typically the second busiest ridership day of the week for the KC Streetcar, but offers the lowest service level in terms of hours of operation and number of streetcars on the route. This change in operations will better serve the downtown residents as well as those visiting for events at the Sprint Center, the Power & Light District, The Midland Theater, Union Station and everything in between.

Hours of operation for the KC Streetcar are 6:00 a.m.-Midnight, Monday through Thursday; 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. on Fridays; 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays; and 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on Sundays.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KC STREETCAR

Nearly one year ago, Kansas City celebrated the opening of the KC Streetcar with much fanfare and pride. In that time, we've completed more than 1,825,000 million trips with a daily average ridership of 5,860 in 2016.

Now it's time to celebrate this momentous year with a good, old fashioned birthday party. You're invited to a community birthday party on May 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. The festivities will take place in the East Plaza of Union Station.  Bring the family, friends, kids, neighbors and dogs and wish the KC Streetcar a very Happy Birthday.

MARCH MADNESS IN KC

March was truly basketball season in Kansas City. The MIAA Conference started off the month, quickly followed by the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, where Iowa State fans took over Downtown Kansas City. The NAIA Basketball Conference lasted 7 days at the KC Convention Center in mid-March, and the NCAA Regional Men’s Basketball Games concluded the month at the Sprint Center.

College hoop fans took over Downtown Kansas City on March 24, and the KC Streetcar was a sea of crimson and blue as the University of Kansas took on Purdue. 33,132 trips were logged over a four day period (March 23-26, 2017), with many heading to the Sprint Center and the Kansas City Power & Light District to watch some basketball.
