Word has spread on the impact of my morning reflections, so on Thursday, I enjoyed sharing the gospel with dozens of healing heroes. I spoke about the 20-30mph headwind which graced us with its presence on Wednesday, during the entire ride, and asked who was angry about the wind. And just like in life, we all find ourselves upset about something, be it the weather, unfortunate circumstances, or getting injured while serving our country. Yet Leviticus 19:18 and Ephesians 4:32 tell us to love our brothers, and neighbors, lest we be consumed with anger. Some people allow anger to weigh them down and effect their outlook, but anger needs to be short lived and controlled. Several veterans told me later, this reality hit home for them.

On Friday, after a reflection on being sober minded (1 Peter 5:8), I rode in my usual A Group, where in peloton formation, we often average Tour De France Speeds (25mph). In the afternoon however, I dropped back to a slower group, to accommodate pulling Karissa (5) and Tristen (4) in a bike trailer. Granted, my legs were spent, barely a few weeks after those foster-adopt kids entered our home in 2015, Karissa and Tristen supported me on a Texas Challenge, and joined the Project Hero Family. So whether its trying to find the $2000 I need for a procedure the VA will not cover, or staying in shape to keep the emotional stress at bay, I appreciate the family in my house, and those on bikes, who keep this veteran on the Ride 2 Recovery.
