Lonestar Round Up

This Weekend!

Tomorrow the Travis County Expo Center will be filled with some of the country's best traditional rods and customs. Here's Lucky Burton's flathead-powered '31 Model A roadster, which made its way to Austin from southern California. Photo by Mike Barillaro
This weekend, nearly 2,000 rods and customs from across the United States are headed to Austin, Texas, for the Lonestar Round Up. Now in its 16th year, the two-day event has grown from a small gathering on a local football field to a citywide experience that lasts all weekend long.

From the traditional hot rods and custom to the live music and tasty Texas barbeque, the Round Up hits all the right notes. We’re especially excited to see the newly restored Ayala-built 1955 Thunderbird, dubbed the “Wild Bird,” making its debut after an exciting drive from Yaril’s Customs in Florida, as well as a fresh pack of Hilton Hotrods/Ross Racing Engines-built Model As shooting down from their home base in Ohio.

There’s a whole lot to see and do at the LSRU, and it’s an event that every hot rodder should experience at least once in their lifetime. For more information about the show, click here, and make sure to follow along with the action on our Instagram and Facebook.

Cheers!
Your Friends at The Rodder’s Journal
There was no shortage of good looking cars on hand at the Austin Speed Shop pre-party. We especially liked Charles Brock's ultra-clean 1940 Ford DeLuxe coupe from Rome, Georgia. Photo by Mike Barillaro
The Hilton Hotrods/ Ross Racing Engines crew is at it again, this time with a new batch of Angry A's. From left to right we have: Grady Jackson's Lincoln-powered "Turnpike Cruiser," John Stivala's '29 Tudor, Jeremy Dorlac's 409-motivated coupe, Tony Lombardi's Olds-powered calling card and the Miller's panel-painted sedan, complete with a blown early Hemi. Photo by Tony Lombardi
Bjørn Inge Jansson has been racking up the miles in his newly restored "Wild Bird," originally customized by Gil Ayala in the mid-'50s. He's stopped at a number of cool places on his trip from Florida to Texas, including Fat Catz Music Club on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
