New year for WNRC means
Officer Election Time
The new fiscal year for the Women's Network of Rapid City begins on May 1. That means it will be time to renew your membership. The Board has decided to keep the annual membership at the very, very low $50 per year, despite recent increases in expenses and lower membership. Treasurer Kristal Hamm and Treasurer-Elect Lori Sauser will take your renewal payment at the April or May meeting, or you may mail your check to our post office box:

Women's Network of Rapid City
PO Box 2131
Rapid City, SD 57709

In other exciting news, the Women's Network monthly luncheon meetings will be moving! Beginning with our May meeting, the luncheon will be hosted at the Journey Museum, with Angel's Catering serving the food. Angel's used to provide meals for us when we were at the Comfort Suites, and the Board is very excited to bring them back! The food they provide is great! Also, the Journey Museum will have plenty of parking for us in their parking lot. No more parking 3-4 blocks away and walking into the meeting late! The cost for meals in the coming year is also not changing. Your monthly networking fee will stay at $16, including lunch.

To get us ready to begin the new year, we will be having our annual elections for Board positions during the April monthly networking meeting. Lori Sauser accepted an early nomination to the Treasurer-Elect position, so her term, as well as that of Kristal Hamm (former Treasurer-Elect who moved early into the Treasurer position) will continue through the upcoming fiscal year. Additionally, Lorie Vega will remain the Secretary.

Slate of officer positions for election:
  • President-Elect: Melanie Torno and Kayla Schmalz
  • Treasurer-Elect: Lori Sauser (term began early, not up for election at this time)
  • Secretary: Lorie Vega (not contested)
See you all on Wednesday!
Spotlight on
Nikkole Abbas
Meet Nikkole Abbas:
I really enjoy meeting people and talking about how we can help them with their online presence. When it comes to technology, if it's all Geek to you, don't worry. I can talk "real people" too! :) I love being able to help people understand what we are doing for them and why.

It has always been important to me to follow all of my passions in life. Despite whatever current project, the main driving factor has always been finding a way to use my skills and talents to improve the world in some way... or at least the lives of those immediately surrounding me in my family and community. This is why I have always worked in nonprofit organizations, and why we have dedicated our business to building what we call “Websites that Matter.”

We enjoy using our talents to help nonprofit organizations, small businesses, social entrepreneurs and other passionate individuals to share the great ways they are working to create a better, happier, healthier, and more sustainable world for us all. I'd also really love to help build a support network for other socially responsible or sustainable businesses in the Black Hills area.

In addition to running 7Gens with my husband, I work for Youth & Family Services in Rapid City. I have worked primarily in the field of drug and alcohol prevention and health education and promotion for over 15 years; however, as of March 2016 I am now teaching healthy relationship classes for the YFS Stronger Family Program. I have also started spending more of my time helping with website design, development and maintenance, and I am having a blast! That’s way more fun than doing marketing, taxes, and handling the books for the business.

I can't imagine anything else I'd rather be doing. After all, if you can turn your love into your living, and do it all while bringing more love into the world, isn't that really living?

We are now managing our reservations using Eventbrite. Please go to the Women's Network Eventbrite page to register for our upcoming luncheon meetings. Click the logo above to go directly to the Women's Network page. Register before noon on Sunday to avoid a late fee!
