THE NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
(That's a saying right?  If not...well, it is now!)

Welp, its been a few months...probably time for another update, eh? :-)

David and I have been super busy this winter with our students over at Light & Landscape Member's Area.  It brings us both a lot of joy to see our students progress their photography and editing skills.  Perhaps most importantly, we've been excited to see our students developing their eye.  They are beginning to recognize some of the areas that can be improved in their images before we point them out, which is very gratifying.

We have also begun our next book...so I'm basically seeing photo settings and concept explanations in my dreams at this point! lol

Also, I've got a magazine article out about my trip to the UK (England, Northern Ireland) and Ireland (the Republic of) from January.  I talked about how to create successful images on the road / holiday / vacation. You can find that here.

Hope you all are enjoying the Spring weather so far!

Milky Way Season Has Begun!

Here are a few tips to help you create your best images.

If you're looking to capture the Milky Way, minimally you'll need a camera with manual control over ISO, aperture, time values and focusing.  You'll also need a tripod, flashlight and a dark sky area away from civilization facing south.

Capturing the sky will require a relatively wide aperture, a relatively short time value (less than 30 seconds) and a relatively high ISO.  Obviously, there is a lot more to it when you're ready to fine tune your images, but those are the building blocks!
Ever thought you'd be interested in learning more about photography?  We'd love to help!

We have both educational books for you readers out there, and we run a comprehensive monthly teaching program where we build lesson plans based on what the students want to learn.  The monthly lesson program provides students with help both in the field and during the editing process, with step-by-step instructions for new concepts and constructive feedback on images.  It's a huge value at an affordable cost. :-)

Want to get an idea of what we do?  Check out this FREE video David made for our students!
