Good Morning and Happy Friday, team!
I've got some very exciting news to share from beneath these April showers:
I've released a brand new swing EP with the Compaq Big Band!
As many of you know, my performance career began with the American Songbook: as tender teens, my brother Brendan and I cut our teeth on the great songs of Rogers & Hart, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen (... the list goes on!) in an acoustic jazz duo.
Now, nearly 15 years later (!), it's an honor and a welcome challenge to return to this beautiful music -- all the more so in collaboration with a band as tight as the Compaq Big Band. The EP features some of my favorite tunes to sing with these guys (including Peggy Lee's "Why Don't You Do Right").
Have a listen - hope you dig what you hear - and please, share! (Maybe we can Make America Swing Again...?)
In other news, Bernardo and I are gearing up for our last Stateside gig for the next few months (we are bound for Italia next week), and what a gig it will be: we are thrilled to be sharing the stage with none other than
Girls Guns and Glory at the
Riverwalk Cafe in Nashua, NH THIS Saturday, 4/22!
Combining blues, country, americana, and rock & roll, Girls Guns and Glory has earned accolades across the country. They'll be bringing "real, honest to God American music" to the stage at the Riverwalk -- and we'll do our damndest to do the same. Space is limited: click here to reserve your tickets!
These last few months back home have been beautiful, busy, and fleeting (ain't that the way?). So now, as the glowing forsythia welcomes the spring rain, we roll on to another chapter, guitars on our backs. We'd love to see you before we go. And if not, we'll be in touch soon with even MORE new music!
Love and many, many thanks,
~Marina
