A rare opportunity to see The Center and meet Snow, our deaf and blind puppy.

Snow is our deaf and blind Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix that we live with, love, and train at The Animal Behavior Center. We drove to Asheboro, North Carolina in November of 2016 when we got word of an abandoned puppy needing a home. So how do you train a deaf and blind puppy? You think like they do and work with the sense they have: touch, smell, and taste. If I didn't tell you she was deaf and blind, you would have no idea until you leaned down to see that she was born without eyes and the inability to hear.

I am a professional trainer of many animals including zoo, exotics, wildlife ambassadors, and deaf and deaf and blind dogs. I use a branch of psychology called Applied Behavior Analysis to train animals from alligators to fish, and everything in between.

Next Saturday, April 29th we will be opening our doors to those that register for this event and fundraiser for DeafDogsRock.com, a national, non-profit raising money for the placement of deaf dogs needing homes. At 4pm I will be giving a short presentation on our work with Snow, introducing Snow to the people that register, followed immediately by fun. The fun is painting the picture of Snow, to the left. You can REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT HERE. Once on the link, scroll down to see the registration link. 100% of proceeds are donated to DeafDogsRock. This is a Cocktails & Canvas event given and instructed by Sherry Schroeder, owner of Art Matters. Bring your own beverage and we will provide the rest. The cost is $45/person and all materials will be provided, including the canvas you will be paining on. Seating is already filling and is limited.

Contact me if you have questions. This will be a very fun event for people of 21 years and older. You don't need to know how to paint for this event. Sherry is a fabulous instructor and makes it easy for everyone. Snow will be attending as long as she wants to. She is a joy and a pure inspiration for life. This is also a very rare opportunity to see the inside of The amazing Animal Behavior Center, where birds fly, ostriches run, and animals are empowered through training.

If you would like to donate but cannot attend, please contact DeafDogsRock.com and send a contribution in Snow's honor. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Lara Joseph, the staff & The Critters of The Animal Behavior Center
