The organist from Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, where religious reformer Martin Luther posted his 95 theses and catalyzed the Reformation 500 years ago, will perform at Jehovah Lutheran Church in St. Paul at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. The organist is Sarah Herzer, a 1999 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Since 2003 she has shared the position of Kantor at the historic Wittenberg church with her husband Thomas. Jehovah Lutheran is home to a three manual and pedal (49 rank) tracker-action instrument buit by Dutch organ builder Jan van Daalen in 1983. Herzer's program will focus on Reformation music to commemorate the anniversary of the historic movement. The concert is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be collected. The church is at 1566 Thomas in St. Paul.

Christ's Love Compels Us: Becoming Better Neighborhood Churches
Is your church well connected to its neighborhood? How can your congregation better serve its neighbors? What opportunities and challenges does your church face in sharing the Gospel with those who live next door? Do you long to see more of your neighbors confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior? We'll explore these questions in CHRIST'S LOVE COMPELS US: a heart-to-heart, honest-to-God conversation for pastors and lay leaders about how our congregations can become a better neighborhood church. It will take place on Saturday, April 29th from 10 am - noon in Library Technology Center rooms 213 and 216 at Concordia University in St. Paul. This forum is hosted by Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in conjunction with the Genesis Mission Co-Op. There is no cost and refreshments and childcare will be provided. To register, either click on this link or call Crystal at Trinity First (612-870-9487.)

District-Wide Koinonia 2.0 Gathering: Pastors, commissioned workers, and laypeople are invited to gather on Saturday morning, May 6, 9:00am – Noon, at Peace Lutheran Church, Faribault, for a public reading, commentary, and lively discussion of A Statement of Concord Based on Luther’s Small Catechism. Prepared by six Minnesota South resource theologians, the document reflects the February 18 conversations on the six chief parts of the Catechism held at six locations around the district. The document will be posted on the district website, www.mnsdistrict.org, at the end of April. Copies will be distributed at the May 6 event. Hopefully, the event will encourage greater conversation and concord among us and give us a sense of the joys and challenges of confessing our faith to church and culture. There is no admission charge, and a freewill door offering will be taken. Dave says, "My concerts are lighthearted and fun, with plenty of food for thought, suitable for the whole family because I bring a message aimed at everyday life and the music appeals to a broad range of people. I tell stories, usually involving the life and work of Jesus, and do silly things with hats and characters and audience participation, which I emphasize more if there are children present."
