Reflection

"Failure is an event, never a person."

– William D. Brown

 Dear <<Name>>
Every person has a story, a personal story, a spiritual story, a life story. Our life stories are very important because we are created by God to live into them every day. I often remind you that our lives are important and the experiences we have to share with others brings with it so much potential. When we share our personal stories we open the door the Holy Spirit to touch others. We may be sharing our past experiences or the pains and joys of living. It may not be easy to share these intimate stories but I believe, when we do, we share a bit of God.

Every story matters because it tells the story of a life well lived or a story of a life that has survived, a life that has highs and lows. Every life matters because God created each life to live.

Being willing to be vulnerable in sharing our stories can make a difference. In sharing and listening we learn about others and the potential exists for a deepening of our lives. Most of us like a good story. These stores can make us laugh, or cry, or have some deep emotional ties to things we love.  Every story matters because your story is a part of your life!

Having just experienced Easter, many people seem to think that the story of Jesus is over. But the story is far from over! If you were to read the scriptures they tell you more is about to happen. If you were to read the book of Acts you would read about the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the healing of people, the work of those who knew the story of Jesus. The work of those who were carrying the story to the people who had yet to hear the good news of Jesus. You can also read about the beginning days of the early church and the struggles they faced. They all had a powerful story to share and because they shared it, we are able to better understand the path of God and the work we are called to do.

The work after Easter is another beginning, not the end of ministry for the works of God. These stories are for more than reading, they become our stories too. That is why it is so important for us to be faithful in what we do and how we show up. We must be intentional in using our gifts and living out our faith because the story is not yet finished. What will your life story be? Will it be told by you, by what you do? Will there be a legacy of an amazing life? What it will be is up to you! There is still time to live and write an amazing story for God.
God has given us the amazing gift of life, let us not waste it! Let us too, be a part of the amazing story!
