So, here's what we found out...

We got up this morning and had breakfast. It was included in the price of our room, so we weren't about to pass it up (even when she doesn't feel like eating, Nat won't let us NOT get food we've already paid for!). Then we walked about a mile down the hill to St. Luke's Hospital.

Kate had already contacted a Dr - we'll call him Dr. K, since I can't even begin to figure out how to pronounce, much less spell, his name. He is the one who said we could come here, and that because we are missionaries, they would work with us on the cost. Dr. K was extremely friendly, and invited us into his office. When we realized that his office was larger and nicer than some of the apartments we've lived in, we began to realize that Dr. K was an important person at this hospital. After talking to us for a few minutes, Dr. K called in Dr. F, and asked him to take good care of Nat and find out what is going on.

For the next several hours, Nat was taken very good care of. She had blood tests, ultrasound, x-rays and a CAT scan done. They left no stone unturned!

What was found  is that she does have blockage in the area of the small intestine, however they were unable to pinpoint the exact area of this problem. At this time, the hope is that Nat is simply taking a while to adjust to not having a gallbladder and the extra bile build up is causing both the blockage and the pain.

It was decided at this time to refrain from doing anything more invasive and instead begin a round of meds that over the next few weeks will hopefully help things to settle down, and bring an end to whatever is going on. If her pain persists, we will need to come back and possibly do an endoscopy.

Also, both Dr. K and Dr. F worked to greatly reduce our bill. This is a huge praise, as we don't have insurance and pay for all of this out of our pockets. Even without this, we were extremely happy with the care and professionalism of everyone involved at St. Luke's Hospital in Thessaloniki.

So please, keep those prayers coming! Pray that Nat's pain and discomfort will go away quickly, without her having to endure any more procedures, and that she can get back to being...Nat. We know that God hears your prayers!

Thanks for all of the prayers, emails and messages - they really do mean a lot to us! We love that we have such a huge team with us, all over the world.
