Seminars with Space

A number of Fall '17 Honors seminars (see below) still have spaces remaining. Seminar info, including reference numbers, are located on the Honors website or by clicking on the specific seminars below. If you are considering an Honors seminar next semester, sign up before you leave for the semester - all the remaining spaces will be taken up by incoming freshman during June orientation.

Apply to be a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader

The Academic Success Center is currently in the process of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders for the fall 2017 semester - applications are due April 19.

The SI Leader position is a paid position. SI Leaders typically enjoy the extra knowledge they gain, and appreciate the skill development that comes from facilitating group study sessions. This position is an excellent resume/skill builder, especially for students who want to teach or go to graduate school. Additional details about the SI Leader position and the application form are online.

If you are interested, please submit an application through the link on the website. Contact Academic Success Center staff with questions at sistaff@iastate.edu or 515-294-6624.

If your cooking skills are bad at best, check out the "College Student Cooking" tag on the Honors blog. See how Honors Ambassadors get creative with apartment kitchens, conjure meals from cans of condensed soup, and the agony and ecstasy of Tasty videos and Pinterest boards. If you have a cooking specialty, email us and we'll post them in future blog posts.

Save the Date for the Spring Honors Poster Presentation

  • Wondering what on earth [insert your major here] majors do for an Honors project?\
  • Are you curious as to what an Honors project looks like in poster form?
  • Concerned that your idea for your Honors project is too "out there"?
  • Do you want to see what your old FHP leader did for their Honors project?
  • Is your roommate forcing you to attend the poster presentation so they'll have someone to talk to when they're presenting?
  • Want to eat 67 ISU catering brownies?

If you answered YES to any one of those questions, mark your calendar for the Honors poster presentation from 3:00-5:00pm in the MU Great Hall on Wednesday, April 26. Stop in between classes to support your friends, learn about others' research, see what Honors projects are like, and enjoy some refreshments.

Around Jischke: Spring has arrived, in a big way! Jischke is surrounded by many of the most dramatic (and fragrant) trees on campus.
