Great Himala Race
"The race you can see from the moon"

Great Himal Race completed!

After years of dreaming (in French) the runners and support team of the Great Himal Race have crossed Nepal East to West in just over 6 weeks. Something like 83,000m of elevation change and 1600 km distance. A lot of eating to do before their blue jeans will fit again. Félicitations Bruno et l'équipe!

New: Kathmandu Trail Race series

3 races down, 9 to go!

We're trying to get runners in Kathmandu off the roads and into nature and it's working. 200 participated in a 12km and 6km race last weekend starting at the famous Budhanilkantha School. We're taking runners to all parts of the valley, through fields, forests and to the tops of hills. Winners in the long races score points and become Trail King and Queen of the Valley when the points are all added up.

2017 Salomon Academy for Jumla runner

Good news for Sunmaya Budha from Karnali Sports club in remote Jumla. She's just 20 years old, already 2016 Asian Skyrunning Ultra Champion, and has been invited to the Salomon Running Academy in Austria where she will run and learn with the best young talents from around the world.

Sunmaya's English language still needs work so Mira Rai will be there to help her through. After the camp, then Sunmaya will hopefully have a place in the famous Chamonix Marathon race which Mira won in 2015. Fingers crossed!

Congratulations to Samir Tamang winning the 50 km event at the prestigious Ultra Trail Australia. Samir placed second in the TDS race in Chamonix a few years back then swapped training for UN Peacekeeping duty. Seems like he is back on top form!
North Pole Marathon finish line
Samir was joined by Bhim Gurung in the FWD North Pole Marathon. An awesome opportunity - perhaps the first Nepalis on top of the world? Bhim took 2nd and Samir 3rd thanks to specialist coaching by Frode Lein in Arctic running. See pictures here.

Fastpacks and challenges

Langtang Kanja La

Langtang lollipop

The track on the map looks to be the shape of something you can lick. This season Seth, Sudeep and their fastpack group got licked but they explain and illustrate this challenging 5000m pass crossing in great detail just for you! See maps and pictures

One-week mountain trek

"What makes this trek unique is the sunrise and sunsets at High Camp," says Tyler Wasson of the Mardi Himal Trek. From the photos it looks nice and awesome - close enough to kiss the mountains and back again in less than a week. See Tyler's pictures here
