With the holidays over and Term 1 behind us, we reflect on what’s been happening around us. We’re only four months into the year and already we have achieved so much. We’ve taken on nine new schools, three new mentors and conducted 25 workshops, attended by 355 educators.
Our nine new schools have all received Teach Like a Champion workshop 1, which was attended by 198 teachers. These workshops focus on Behaviour and Culture, where the outcome of the workshop is for teachers to be able to identify and learn some of the techniques that would help them build a classroom culture where learners work hard, model strong character, are polite and attentive and strive to do their best.
Welcome on board, we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.
We are also very happy to report that all our Teach Like a Champion workshops have been SACE accredited.

We ran 16 Lead Like a Champion workshops with the leadership teams at all our existing schools, attended by 157 members of the School Management Teams. The aim of these workshops is to support the school’s instructional leadership team to ensure that the Teach Like a Champion techniques have a sustained and lasting impact and positively influence learner achievement for many years to come.
This was the first series we’ve conducted of these workshops which were all very successful.

Our latest mentee blog features Ms Shezi who successfully uses the Teach Like a Champion techniques in her class. Mrs Shezi’s inspiring story, caught the attention of Teach Like a Champion author, Doug Lemov, who used it to write his own blog 'A Postcard from a South African classroom' commenting that he found the blog “both informative and inspiring”.
Mr Lemov was particularly impressed by Ms. Shezi illustrating that these techniques can be used to improve learner performance in a class of 60 learners, in comparison to US classrooms where teachers complain of large classes of 30 learners.

Remember the sustainable garden at Litha Primary we crowd-funded for and created back in 2014? Well, they recently won a prize run by the National School Nutrition Programme. In an effort to become more streamlined and improve the way we work, we have recently partnered with Early Inspiration to develop an app which our mentors can use in the field to allow for real time feedback and quicker turn around and reaction times from the head office based on their reports.
Along with that we have also embarked on setting ourselves up with SalesForce, an online platform to hold all our data. Together, these two tools will support us in becoming a more streamlined, effective and efficient organisation, giving us quicker access to information and being able to connect more easily to our mentors, schools and each other.
We are in the early stages of using both tools, but are already seeing the benefits and we thank everyone who has played a role in getting us to this point in the process and are excited about what these tools can do for us as an organisation.
