Corsham Walking Festival 2017

I am delighted to be able to report that tickets are selling fast for the 2017 Festival.  In the first three weeks we have sold approximately 50% of all available places on the walks; 4 walks have sold out altogether and others are close to capacity.

Currently there are still places available on each day of the Festival.  If you would like to do something a little bit different why not join sign up for:
  • SAT4 - Mindfulness walk to Corsham Court encouraging us to reconnect to ourselves and allowing our minds to settle.
  • SAT7 - Children's Treasure Hunt to encourage young people to discover Corsham High Street and Corsham Park.
  • SAT8/SUN7 - Corsham Quest.  A bit of fun for all the family to test their powers of observation around Corsham.
  • SUN6 - A fully accessible walk accompanied by an expert to introduce you to Corsham's History.
To find out more about these and all the other walks, and to make a booking please go to our website. You can also receive updates by liking our Facebook page.

In a change to the published brochure, we are no longer able to provide transport to support Walks Friday 1 (which starts in Chippenham and finishes in Corsham) and Saturday 5 (which starts in Corsham and finishes in Box).  Both these walks will still go ahead but as in previous years walkers will need to make their own travel arrangements or use Public Transport.  Anybody who had already booked on either of these two walks has been informed of the change and I apologise for any confusion that may have been caused.

On a more positive note, we have arranged for the cafe at the Springfield Campus to  remain open until 1800 each day of the Festival.  This change is a direct result of the feedback from a number of people last year that they would have welcomed an opportunity to socialise over a well earned "cuppa" after their walk.

Talking of socialising, don't forget to book your place at the quiz and buffet supper on the Saturday evening.  This was a huge success last year and our resident quizmaster has been preparing something even more fiendish for this year!  You don't have to be a walker to take part, just find a couple of friends to make up up a team or come along and join a team on the night.  Once again Elior Catering will be provided the buffet - they did an excellent job last year - and there will be a paying bar available.  Special dietary needs can be catered for - please notify when making the booking.

Walking Opportunities

The Corsham area provides walking opportunities all year round - whether self guided or with a local group.  The Corsham Bookshop and the Tourist Information Centre in Corsham High Street both have a small selection of booklets of local walks available for purchase and in addition there are a number of on line resources.

If you would like to walk with a local group then details can be found on the Visit Corsham website or downloaded here.  You are sure to receive a warm welcome.  If you do not walk regularly with the relevant group, it is advisable to contact them beforehand so they are aware of likely numbers on the walk.

Walkers Are Welcome

The Walkers Are Welcome newsletter for April is attached with news from around the Walkers are Welcome network.  It includes a thought provoking article on how we might prise our children away from computer games and get them to reconnect with nature.

Best Foot Forward
