Senegal signs Host Country Agreement with GGGI

On April 14, the Republic of Senegal and GGGI signed a Host Country Agreement in support of Senegal’s sustainable development. The cooperation between GGGI and Senegal will contribute to finding solutions to challenges related to urban development, land use, green governance, and access to green investments. Cambodia looks to scale-up solar PV development across the country

On April 04, GGGI and Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment announced that they will work closely together to scale-up solar PV development in Cambodia. The announcement, made during the SEforALL Forum in New York, included a discussion on the plans to develop solar PV projects to enhance green growth. Read more here

 


GGGI Uganda Convenes First Urban Sector Actors Meeting

On March 30, GGGI in partnership with the National Planning Authority, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and Office of the Prime Minister convened the first ever workshop of the Urban Sector Actors. The workshop aimed to galvanize urban actors, raise the profile of urban development in Uganda, and chart a better way of managing urbanization in the country. Read more here


 



GGGI joins launch of Colombia’s National REDD+ Roundtable
 
On March 26, GGGI, the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility, and UNREDD Programs supported by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, inaugurated the National REDD+ Roundtable. Close to 80 participants representing government agencies, development partners, NGOs, indigenous peoples, and the private sector attended the launch. Read more here.



 


Feature: A shared vision for green growth in Fiji: 100% renewable electricity and sustainable biofuels



Read this recently published feature article describing GGGI's work in Fiji to help the government transform the archipelago nation into a sustainable development example for other Small Island Developing states in the region. The article highlights projects aiming to achieve 100% renewable electricity on the islands by 2035, as well as revitalize small biofuel mills to replace 25,000 kiloliters of imported gasoline by locally produced biofuels by 2030.

The article was published by PACNEWS on April 27 and by the Fiji Times as a two-part special in the Business Section on April 28 and April 29.
