YWAM team from Salem, Oregan
What a wonderful time with the team from Oregon! A group on their DTS came out and spent a couple of weeks helping teach at the Centre!  Their main purpose was to help plan and prepare for the English camp that we had but we were also blessed to have them join our classes and even help teach when they were needed!

English Camp was an amazing experience with some great weather to bat!  We were particularly thankful for the aid of the Salem team, especially as two of our own staff were out on the injury list! Some of the highlights from the camp were a riddle based treasure hunt, a humongous bonfire and a trip to the waterfall near the campsite! In between English activities, the Frisbee was thrown around, the streams were explored and many games were played in the common area.  It was awesome one evening for us all to hear the testimony of a student who shared what God has done in his life. We all enjoyed connecting with each other in a different setting and it was great to see the students getting fully involved with all the activities  as well as making new friends.

When we can, we like to tell you about a student who has been impacted by God through The Centre. We will always change the name when we do so. Praise the Lord with us for this story.

When Jim* was born his whole family were Buddhists.  His family are all very conservative in regards to religion.  Jim writes, "I am a student at Chiang Mai University, and am a Senior in my final year.  I wanted to study English to score better on an English test for a job application. While looking for an English teaching centre, a friend invited him to come to The Centre. I saw that many of the staff, teachers and students at The Centre were good folk and felt comfortable being at the Centre. One day one of the staff invited me to House Church and so I decided to go along.  At first I was confused about Buddhism and Christianity and had many questions.  I saw that Buddhism was not able to answer my questions but that the Bible was able to answer many of them. So I decided to follow Jesus and be baptized!  At first I was scared to tell my family, not sure what their response would be. It worried me though that I was keeping a secret from my parents so I decided to tell them. At first they were angry and argued with me but since then the dust has settled and they are now open to talk about it with me.Though they may not understand, they say they are fine with me following Christ and have decided not to fight about it. One day I hope  my parents will understand. I will continue to enjoy coming along to The Centre and House Church until I graduate.

Give thanks and pray for…..

1. ….  for Jim and other students who have made commitments in the past year, that they would grow in their relationship with Jesus and want to share the Good News with their friends and families.  Please pray for courage for the new believers as they tell of the new hope and life they have found  in Jesus, and that God would prepare hearts for receiving this news. Please pray for Jim's parents to see the difference in his life and want to know Jesus too.

2. ….more students to learn at The Centre. We will have three new teachers on an internship from late May to late July as well as some of our regular teachers who are free to take on new classes as they are coming to the end of their classes as students graduate and leave Chiang Mai. Pray that these new students would quickly feel a real part of the community here and that those taught by the three interns would continue learning after their teachers have left. Also for God to put a real thirst for Him in students' hearts.

3 .......for our students who are graduating and leaving Chiang Mai this month, that they would remember what they have learnt about Jesus and from being with Christians. Also for God to plant other links in the chain of their each of their lives  and so bring to fruition their salvation stories.

4. …..for all our teachers and Thai staff; that we would teach/work well and that God’s love would permeate out from us to each other, the students and our neighbours. And pray for sensitivity and boldness as we share Jesus with our students – and our neighbours.

5........for our teachers who are travelling this summer for however long! For safe travels as well as fruitful, relaxing and quality times with families and friends.
