Fort Collins Artist Studio Tour is this weekend. I've now planned my route to visit open studios tonight, Saturday and Sunday throughout Fort Collins. (My studio is
not part of the tour this year.) Check out the excellent interactive digital map – I just now discovered it myself! – by clicking
HERE. The map shows the location of every studio on this year's tour, along with painted transformer boxes and other Art in Public Places installations in the Fort Collins area. What a nice resource.
Let me share my excitement about a new art gallery and studio collective in town:
3 Square Art! It is a brand new fine art facility with 13 artist studios, a beautiful gallery and workshop space. We (the public) have the opportunity to visit 3SA this weekend during Studio Tour; four of the resident artists are official participants. It is located just north of E. Mulberry and Timberline Road at 2415 Donella Court. I love the design of the building and look forward to seeing the studios inside.
Recently I got a glimpse of the facility when I dropped off my artwork for 3 Square Art's inaugural gallery show. Two of the self portraits I painted last year are included in the exhibit, which is titled "
Vision." The show runs from Thursday May 4 through Friday, May 26. The opening reception for Vision is
next Friday, May 5 from 5:00-9:00pm. Maybe I'll see you there!
This is the final week of the Masks Exhibit at the
Fort Collins Museum of Art (201 S. College Ave.). As with past exhibits, I'm impressed with the quality and variety of entries in this year's exhibit. The mask I painted for this year's auction is titled "Ocean of Hope". Admission to the
Masks Exhibit is free this Saturday AND during the closing reception next Friday May 5, 6:00-9:00pm. Placing a bid on your favorite mask will help raise money for the museum.
