The Newsletter of The International Association of Physics Students
April 2017

Announcements:
jIAPS Article Competition
The jIAPS Article Competition has a winner! Congratulations to Mario Gaimann, whose article about the emerging field of spintronics satisfied the voters the most.
But again, thanks to all who participated in the competition. There were also a lot of other nice articles which you will find in the next version of jIAPS. As usual, there will be printed versions during ICPS in Torino.

IFISO Spring Meeting
On April 6 - 9th, our president Henrik and officer for outreach and education Ana attended this year's meeting of IFISO which was organised in Graz, Austria by ISHA (International Students of History Association) Graz and EGEA (European Geography Association) Graz. IFISO is the Informal Forum for International Student Organisations, a forum where international student organisations can get together and share their knowledge.
During these days, a lot of new projects and cooperations between the different most associations are initiated, as well as you get the chance to compare stuctures and strategie.
Opportunities:
International Day of Light
As an outcome of the International Year of Light, UNESCO endorsed an annual International Day of Light that will take place every year on May 16th, beginning in 2018.
Maybe waiting for 2018 is too long for you and you will already start this year? At least you can start thinking of possible events you can prepare for next year :)

The Student Ambassador Programme
You participated in one of the great IAPS events and somehow feel lonely concerning IAPS and an international network being back at your university? Get your friends and fellow students excited about IAPS by sharing your experience and become a Student Ambassador!
Further information (e.g. how to apply) can be found on our website.
Upcoming activities:
International Seminar on Plasma Physics
Supported by IAPS, NC Germany (jDPG) organises an international seminar on plasma physics at the IPP in Greifswald, Germany. The seminar focuses on the Stellarator project Wendelstein 7-X, situated at the seminars site. For more information, please visit the event page.
