Good Energy Solutions at the Earth Day Celebration in Lawrence, KS

Good Energy Solutions had a great time at the 2017 Earth Day Celebration in Lawrence, KS last Saturday, April 22nd. This is our 10th year to participate in the event and were thrilled to educate those young and old about the power of the sun. We took the opportunity to share our knowledge and even settle a few myths about solar and wind power in Kansas. Solar powered cars crashed into each other in the sun and stalled when in the shade in the "Solar Derby", our children's activity that was enjoyed by ages 2 to 80.

What's a Dual Axis Tracker?

Dual Axis Tracker with SunPower Solar Panels

Consider a dual axis tracker to get the most out of your solar energy system. The primary benefit of a solar tracker system vs. fixed solar panels is that a tracker system can move to collect solar energy for the longest period of the day.

A dual axis tracker allows you to get more power out of every solar panel. In fact, a dual axis solar energy system can produce up to 45% more energy than a fixed roof system. As the trackers turn the solar panels from both east to west and up and down the panels always follow the sun’s elevation. Imagine a field of sunflowers. Over the course of a sunny day you will notice how the sunflowers face the rising sun and track it across the sky until sunset. The flowers are open to the suns rays all day long and soak up the most power possible by moving with the sun. The same is true for solar panels on dual-axis trackers. READ MORE

Include Solar and Energy Efficiencies in Your New Home Mortgage for the Best Financing Rate.

Part of the Solution Solar Site
Are you building a new home? If you are financing, we recommend building in the cost of solar and energy efficiencies in your new home mortgage instead of waiting to add solar after the fact with a higher interest loan.

Financing rates on mortgage loans are very attractive. The savings from your new solar energy system WILL BE GREATER than the financing costs of adding solar to your home mortgage. In other words, you will immediately cash flow positive from day one with solar. It just makes sense to build in the cost of solar and energy efficiencies in your new home mortgage. Another benefit to solar is that it has no moving parts, so there is very little future maintenance. READ MORE

Overland Park, Kansas homeowner sells home for an additional $20,000 due to Solar Investment.

In 2015, a customer of Good Energy Solutions had us install a 5.1kW solar pv system on their residential home. The homeowner purchased the system and was able to take advantage of the 30% Federal Tax credit in the year the system was installed.

This past month the homeowner put the home on the market. The real estate agent suggested a selling price based on comps in the neighborhood. Knowing the value of the solar array, the homeowner decided to increase the price of the home (5,000W X $4 = $20,000). As a result, the home sold for $20,000 more than the real-estate agent proposed. Essentially, the homeowner got all of his investment back from the solar array plus the money NOT spent on rising utility costs over the years. (READ MORE)

Good Energy Solutions will soon be offering classes for people in the real estate industry on the value of solar. Stay tuned to the Good Energy Solutions Facebook page and Twitter for details.
