"Third Thursday Speaker Series" features Justice Melissa Goodwin

Third Court of Appeals Justice Melissa Goodwin will be the featured speaker on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the “Third Thursday Speaker Series” of the Lost Pines Republican Women (LPRW). Held at the First National Bank at 489 TX-71 in Bastrop, networking with fellow Republicans will begin at 6:30PM. The program begins promptly at 7:00PM.  Light refreshments will be provided. The Fayette County Republican Women is a co-sponsor of the May meeting. Register now!

Justice Goodwin received a law degree from St. Mary's School of Law and a BA from the University of Texas. She was elected to the Third Court of Appeals in November 2010, and was sworn into office in January 2011. Prior to her election to the Third Court of Appeals, Justice Goodwin served as a District Court Judge, for the 427th Judicial District Court of Travis County and Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, Travis County, Texas. She has also served as an attorney for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Early Voting Now Underway

Early voting got underway yesterday for the May 6 City and School Board elections. Information about early voting schedules and locations, along with along with sample ballots and a voters guide can be found on BastropVotes.org.

While these are non-partisan elections, we thought it would be helpful if voters had voting history information about the various candidates. And, where we could find them, we've linked to candidate websites or Facebook pages.  (The names in red are those with links.)

2017 Meeting Schedule

The Board of Directors, at its meeting on February 14, voted to hold our future meetings in the evening for the convenience of members who work.
  • Our April meeting will be tonight: Tuesday April 25.
  • Meetings will run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Meetings will be held at the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, 927 Main Street, Bastrop.
  • We've scheduled the following meetings for the rest of the year.  Please add them to your calendar (all are Tuesday evenings):

    • September 26
    • October 24
    • November 28
