Small Business Week

April 30-May 6
Small Business Week highlights the impact of entrepreneurs and small business owners across communities and the Colorado economy. With over 560,000 small businesses in Colorado and half of our workforce employed by small businesses, this week celebrates their critical contributions with workshops, events and festivities. Over 87% of Lakewood businesses have fewer than twenty employees. State of the State

Thursday, May 11, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
At this event you will hear a review of the 2017 legislative session and hear from Governor John Hickenlooper regarding the issues that impact the state of our state. Additionally, the fourth recipient of the Robert Blankenship Heart Award will be announced. Visit the website for more information and to register.

Union Study Underway

The Union Area Transportation Study will create a list of projects to improve the area after analyzing current conditions and planning work that has already been done for the area and gathering comments from residents, business owners and community members. An online survey and details about the study are available at Lakewood.org/Union.

Free Mental Health First Aid Classes

Would you be able to tell if one of your employees is having a mental crisis or showing signs of mental illness? Do you ever feel like your customers need help? Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour course that teaches you how to recognize and respond to someone who appears to be in mental distress and how to help them until they can get professional help. The Mental Health First Aid Jeffco Collaborative is offering FREE classes through August. Register for classes or host a class for your employees on mhfajeffco.org or call 303-432-5155.
