Time Flies

We are already into our second term for the semester - welcoming back all our riders from their break. This month has moved past at an alarming rate but we are so excited that our Show Jumping Fundraiser day is so close! There is still time to register as a competitor and we are completely thrilled with the array of sponsors who have joined us for this now, annual event! Read more below...
We put the call out, and the community responded amazingly! Only a few short weeks ago, we were searching for sponsors to come aboard for our Annual Showjumping Fundraiser and the spots quickly filled. We want to say a  massive thank you to all our class sponsors!! It is so heartening that our friends and community are so quick to support us.

The day is shaping up to be a fantastic one and there is still an opportunity to sign up as a competitor on the day. Head over to www.globalentriesonline.com.au and check it out!

April Day Camps

Our day camps were once again, a huge hit - for both us and our young riders. It's such an incredible feeling seeing the love for horses be passed on from parents to children.

Our instructors were super impressed with the give-it-a-go attitude our young riders brought to the camps. The Day Campers sent their days learning about basic horsemanship and care, riding instruction and actively helping around the centre. Armed with their workbooks, we hope to see our day campers next school holidays full of horse-knowledge.

CTRC is Social!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! CTRC is moving into the 21st century and joined the great big world of instagram. We love the photos that you guys share on social media, so we want to be right there too, fussing over how cute Gumnut is or how Dexter is changing lives. Be sure to tag us in any of your photos using @claremonttherapeuticriding or if your account is private, you can message it to us and we would love  to share it!

We are also so extremely close to announcing our website launch. Keep your eyes peeled for our communications because it's looking very professional and will transform our site into being a wealth of knowledge for those wanting to know about the positive effects of riding.

Achiever of the Month

Harriet Ward

Harriet has been absolutely outstanding helping out with the running of our school holiday day camps and we can see in the future she’ll be running them on her own!!  She is fantastic with the riders, helpful and a natural-born teacher!  She is fantastic at playing games at lunchtime too (making our camps the very best they can be!). Harriet has recently leased a horse and we wish her all the best in her equestrian career.

"I have been riding here for about 7 years. I began riding Pippa and have ridden many horses since.  I did my first competition on a pony called Fiona who taught me a lot! I have been volunteering at many day camps , pony rides and lessons over the years and have met many people that I have now become good friends with. I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have been given by M’Liss and everybody down here.  I have been lucky enough to now lease my own pony called Matise and I am looking forward to what the future holds."

Congratulations Harriet!

Inspirational Rider of the Month

Tamara Keens

Tamara is a very polite young teenage,r who although has only been with us a short time, has thrived in our environment. She has made many new friends very quickly and has been here every day over the holidays helping out with the Day Camps. She will be entering her fist Special Olympic State Games in June and we will be cheering loudly for her!

“I’ve been riding for at CTRC for three terms twice a week. My favourite horses are Kiara and Paris.  A highlight for me was competing at the RDA National Video Competition.  My favourite parts of coming here are how sweet the horses and ponies are and how friendly everyone is and of course the amazing M’Liss who is so caring and hardworking."

Volunteer of the Month

Barbara Grow

Barb has only been with us a short while but in a short space of time has become a valued member of our team.  Always quietly working along in the background and lovely to have a cup of tea with!

“ I am 63 years old and grew up in Claremont, then moved north to Padbury to raise my 2 children.

I have since moved to Kinsley and enjoy crocheting and knitting.   Dianne my sister suggested I volunteer at CTRC as I had spare time and suffer major depression. I took this advice and started at CTRC meeting Jacqui in the car park sitting in her car and calling out “Hello Sir, is this the horse riding place?”

Since volunteering I have lost 6kg’s due to being more active just 2 days a week for 4 hours!  I do not have a background in horses but enjoy being around them and the helpful , friendly people who are all very inclusive. I do not do a lot with the horses but help in the office and grounds, cleaning duties, all making my depression more manageable!!"

We are so thankful that Barb's sister recommended us, because Barb has taken to our centre so quickly that we can't imagine her not flitting around.
Here's Monika winning at the State Tet with Johnny!
Sara and Jaye who also flew the flag and competed at the Perth H&PC event on Sunday.

Community Fundraising

We still have honey for sale at the Centre if you want to come down to grab some. The wonderful Randal Humich, donated jars of honey (yummo!!) as a fundraiser for our centre!

The high quality, locally produced, natural honey is $8 per jar and a hundred percent of  funds goes to CTRC. Jars are available from the CTRC office or can be delivered to the Midland / Gidge area.

We also have 8 new chooks at our stables, so if you are needing fresh eggs - come on down and support the centre!
Our supa donation from IGA Supa Wembley has already been put to good use with the purchase of wonderful new helmets. Our riders are looking like a million bucks in their flash new equipment thanks to the support of the local community!
Happy Holidays to all Friends of the CTRC! We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and came back to us safe and sound.
