Creating a Meditation Habit

One of the keys to developing 'awareness' and focus of the mind - like the exercise of any muscle - is simply consistency and much patience. Whatever I keep turning my attention to - and therefore give energy to - definitely yields fruit over time. But practice is the key and, of course, it also helps if there is support from a community.

This coming May, we are supporting the world's largest online meditation campaign, Mindful in May, through which thousands of people have developed the practice of mindfulness. In addition, the campaign makes a difference by raising funds to bring clean water to those in need in developing countries.  Please find details of this campaign, courtesy of Mindful in May, below. (If you sign up, please also look out for a Calm in the City commentary which will be featured as part of the campaign!)

We will also be supporting your mindfulness practice at Federation Square throughout the month of May - every Thursday in the Atrium, 8-8.30am. If you would like a deeper start to the month, following the successful monthly Calm-out-of-the-City day silence retreats which have been running since December, please note that the next retreat is on Saturday 6th May (these retreats are always fully booked - so please book here
soon). Please note that there will be no day silence retreats in June or July - and we will resume again in August. We've very much enjoyed sharing these day retreats with you - and the building and sustaining of the experience of peace in turn.

So we look forward to connecting soon - and wish you a lovely mindful month in May.

With all good wishes - the Calm in the City team.
