ROWVA School District Is on the Road to Being Future Ready

The ROWVA School District, located in rural Knox County, Illinois, encompasses 183 square miles and houses 648 students from five small towns. The district has a pre-K–6 elementary school and a 7–12 junior-senior high school. New Micro-Credentials: FRS Planning with a Purpose Badges Unveiled

 
School district leaders who are using the Future Ready Schools® (FRS) dashboard, can now receive recognition for their hard work. Planning-with-a-Purpose micro-credentials (badges) are awarded to district leaders who earn credentials by gear, including a badge for collaborative leadership. This is a great way for districts to model personalized professional development strategies and get recognition for their deliberate planning efforts. Developed in partnership with Digital Promise and North Carolina State University’s Friday Institute, these micro-credentials are aligned with the research-based FRS framework. LEARN MORE

New Guidebook: Strategies for Implementing Personalized Learning in Rural Schools

A Guidebook for Success: Strategies for Implementing Personalized Learning in Rural Schools, helps education leaders from rural communities capitalize on existing assets while addressing their community’s challenges. The guidebook highlights how district leaders can use the researched-based Future Ready Schools® framework and free planning resources to leverage opportunities and overcome challenges inherent in their rural setting to transform teaching and create a personalized learning experience for their students. Planning for Personalized Learning Just Got a Lot Easier

The Future Ready Schools® (FRS) team listened to its network! After several focus groups and user surveys, the FRS team revamped steps 3 and 4 of the five-step planning process to provide a collaborative, flexible, and user-friendly interface that is much easier to use. District teams can now develop research-based plans with community input that address local needs—approaches vary from a very narrow focus on one or two gears, to a broad overarching digital learning plan. New Educator News and Literacy Toolkit from Common Sense Education

In today's 24/7 digital world, society has instant access to all kinds of information online. Educators need strategies to equip students with the core skills they need to think critically about today's media. Common Sense Education teaches foundational skills in news and media literacy through its Digital Citizenship program, specifically through topics including creative credit and copyright and information literacy. Built on more than ten years of expertise and classroom testing, these lessons and related teaching materials give students the essential skills to be smart, savvy media consumers and creators.
