It is time to get signed up for this year's event!  Below is a sample of the entry booklet.  Hard copies are available at the Golf Shop.  We have some great new games, different ways to gamble, and a price reduction.  Don't delay!  The first 36 teams are guaranteed.  After that, who knows??

Welcome to our new and improved version of an all-time favorite, the Men’s Member-Guest Tournament.  We are very excited to be working in conjunction with The Reserve Restaurant on this year’s event.  Also, we are proud to be sponsored by Larkin Braxton and his company, First Command Financial Services.  This year’s theme is “Lucky 3’s.”  We will have games and competitions throughout the weekend revolving around that lucky golf number.
 
If you or your guest has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask one of the golf shop staff to assist you.  We hope that you enjoy this weekend and enjoy the exciting new vibe surrounding the club!

2017 Men’s Member-Guest Tournament
 
Format: Match Around
The field will be grouped by flights of (6) teams, with each team playing five (5) nine-hole matches against the other teams within their flight. Matches will be handicapped off of the low handicap player in each foursome.  Each match will be worth 10 points.  One point is available for each hole, with ½ a point awarded to each team for a tie.  There is an additional point available for the overall match, which can be halved.  Flights will be pre-determined by 100% of the total team course handicap based on their June 1^st handicap.  If partners’ handicap differential is 9 or more strokes, a 10% handicap reduction will be applied to both players.  All players must have an established USGA handicap or present five signed and attested scorecards by the entry deadline of May 26^th, 2017.  There will be no exceptions to this rule.
 
Breaking Ties:
If there is a tie for first or second place in the flights, the head to head match will be used to break the tie.  If the head to head match was halved, the second tiebreaker will be most matches won.  If a tie still exists, the third tiebreaker will be most points on Sunday and the fourth will be most points on Saturday.
 
Match Play Playoff:
At the conclusion of lunch on Sunday, the flight winners will enter, depending on the number of flights, either a Match Play Playoff or a Flight Shootout.  The Golf Shop staff will determine the format before play begins on Friday.  The winner of this finale will be crowned the 2017 Men’s Member-Guest Champions!

Tees:
Players will have the option of competing from the green, white, blue, or gold tees for the duration of the tournament, but must declare so at the time of entry.  Members must play from the tees where the majority of their rounds are posted.  Course handicaps will be adjusted accordingly.
 
In addition to the five (5) nine-hole matches, there will be other side events to participate in during the tournament.
 
Skins: 
Individual gross skins during rounds 2-5.  The field will be split into 2 or 3 divisions, dependent on the number of participants.
 
Pot of Gold: 
A pot of gold will be waiting on Saturday and, again, on Sunday for any player who hits all five Par 3’s in regulation.  Two chances to win!  (3”s)
 
Pots of Silver:  
Closest to the Pin on all five Par 3 holes on both days.  Ten more chances to win!! (3’s)
 
Daily:
For those not having a great start to the weekend, fear not!  In each flight, we will pay the team with the most points on Sunday that did not finish in either first or second place.

Pre Buy:
Teams will have an opportunity to participate in a Pre-Buy by purchasing their teams at a set price before the team goes up for auction.  The auction will begin after Round One, so teams must make sure to declare their intentions before Round One begins on Friday afternoon.  As always, the goal is a 100% pre-buy!
 
The Trifecta:
After the conclusion of Friday’s first round, teams will be able to “place wagers” on net team performance on all of the Par 3 holes for the weekend.  This is a new spin on a version of a Calcutta.  MGA president Ben Hadden has agreed to be your auctioneer.  More info to follow!! (3’s)
 
Cow Pasture Pool Putting Contest:
Players will have the opportunity to participate in a team putting contest that we have named Cow Pasture Pool.  This event, taking place under the Friday night lights, will feature 4 teams in a pod system.  All teams within the same pod will play each other.  The team with the best record will advance out of the pod and into a single elimination match play tournament against the other pod winners.  Pods will be randomly assigned and available to see after the completion of Round One.

Friday June 2^nd   
 

7:00 – 12:00                         Practice round available for all participants.  Players will make their own tee times and pairings.  There will be a net better ball competition for those who wish to enter.  (Players must notify the golf shop if they plan on playing)  Cart fee only for all players today.
 
5:00                                        Round One Shotgun Start (Players must Pre-Buy their team before play begins).
 
7:00-8:00                              Players Only Dinner.   Domestic Draft Beer included this evening.
 
8:00                                        Cow Pasture Pool Putting Contest.
 
10:30                                      Last call.

 
 
Saturday June 3^rd  
 

7:30-8:45                              Breakfast Buffet available.  Driving range and practice greens available.
 
9:00                                        Round Two Shotgun Start.
 
11:00-12:00                           Round Two Scoring. Boxed lunches available to sit down or take on the go.
 
12:00                                      Round Three Shotgun Start.
 
2:00-3:00                              Round Three Scoring.
 
                                                Players on own for food and beverage needs.

 
Sunday June 4^th
 

8:00                                        Round Four Shotgun Start.

The field for this event will be limited to the first 36 entrants.  In the event that more than 36 teams submit entry forms, a waiting list will be created until we reach 42 teams.  The field must be divisible by 6 with this match play format.  Those that have paid for the event, but subsequently cannot play, will only be credited their entry fee back if a replacement team is found.  Your entry is accepted upon payment of entry fee.  The entry can be charged to your club account, credit card, or paid by cash or check made out to The Golf Club at The Highlands.
