How to Make a Children's Book

Gus Gordon (Herman and Rosie and Somewhere Else) is one of the finest illustrators working today and I'm lucky enough to work with him on the My Life series.

In part three of my blog series on How to Make a Children's Book, Gus shares intimate insight into his process and how you might go about creating your own illustrated book.

FREE TOM WEEKLY MASK

In the My Life & Other Weaponised Muffins book trailer I was savagely attacked by a masked, muffin-wielding fiend claiming to be Tom Weekly.

You can now download and print your own Tom Weekly mask and stage your own devilish muffin attack or wear it to your school book parade. Just click the image.

13 YEAR-OLD PUBLISHED AUTHOR

Anjali Dutton was just 11 years-old when she wrote her funny, semi-autobiographical story 'Toffee' and won the annual NSW Pilot Pen short story competition judged by author Andy Griffiths, earning her $1000 in prize money.

Anjali developed the story and characters further and now it's been published in the latest My Life book My Life & Other Weaponised Muffins. Meet Anjali here and hear about her writing journey and her tips for other young writers.

HELP ME CHANGE THE WORLD THROUGH EDUCATION

FOR $70 WE CAN TEACH ONE CHILD IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD FOR ONE YEAR TO LEARN TO READ AND WRITE.

Join me and our amazing team of Room to Read Writer Ambassadors in the 2017 World Change Challenge. In previous years we've raised $100,000. This year we aim to to fund 300 students in some of the poorest countries in Asia and Africa to change their lifetime opportunities and create real changes in their families and communities. I'd love you to JOIN OUR MISSION AND GET ACTIVE FOR EDUCATION.
