Headteacher's message...

Assalaamu alaykum,
We are now arriving at a busy time in the school year, with the exams starting in ten days and Ramadan just around the corner. Please do read about the changes that will take place during Ramadan. If you have any queries regarding this, please do not hesitate to call us. May Allah grant us all a blessed Ramadan. Aameen.

The Book Fair is here! Stalls will be set up in R3 at lunch time everyday until Thursday 11th May.

 Star Pupil of the Month

Hebah Haj-Yousif, Year 7 - for encouraging good behaviour in her classmates.

Zainab Choudhury, Year 8 - for her ability to focus and produce good quality work in class.

Bahishte Khan, Year 9 - for her constant motivation to do well, and move on to challenging tasks

Ameera Rashid, Year 10 - for concentrating and trying hard in lesson, and for an excellent homework record

Tahura Parves, Year 11 - for doing really well with regards to exam preparations at home, and revising hard for her GCSEs

IMPORTANT NOTICES
Our Homework Policy is changing.
Initially, when a student failed to complete their homework, they were given detention during lunch time for half an hour to complete their homework. We have come to realise that this has not proved effective and furthermore combines inability to complete homework with bad behaviour.
Thus, in an effort to address this, and help those students who find it difficult to complete their homework to manage their work load, we are introducing homework club three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We are hoping that these students will complete their homework in school before they go home.

Fines for Unauthorised Leave

This Easter holidays, we had far too many parents taking their children on an extended holiday. Unfortunately, this has had a negative impact on the school’s overall attendance figures, which OFSTED will not look favourably upon. Thus, in order to discourage parents from doing this, we regret to announce that our fines policy is changing. Where currently the fine for taking a child on holiday during term time is £40 per period of absence, from next year the fine will increase to £20 per day.

2017 GCSE Examinations

GCSE examinations are due to start this month. The first exam is on Monday 15th May for both Year 10s and 11s, and the rest of the exams are set all through the rest of May and into June. The last exam will take place on the 22nd June.

Good luck to all our students taking exams this year! :)
End of Year trip to Gilwell Park

For the end of this year, we are arranging a full school trip to Scout Adventures - Gilwell Park, for Monday 17th July. This will be a whole day event  where students will get a choice of taking part in 4 different activities each. We will be writing to parents with further details, closer to the time.

Half Term Holiday Dates

Last day of school: Friday 26.05.17
First day back: Tuesday 06.06.17
The school will be closed from the 29th May until 2nd June 2017.

Please note that Monday 5th June is Inset day.
Ramadan Timings

As per usual every year, our timings will change slightly for the month of Ramadan. School will start at 9:00am and finish at 3:00pm. However, students may arrive from 8:30am onwards as the school will be open then.

Riddles of the Month

Mr Brown was killed on Sunday afternoon. The wife said she was reading a book. The butler said he was taking a shower. The chef said he was making breakfast. The maid said she was folding clothes, and the gardener said he was planting tomatoes. Who did it?
Answer: The Chef. Mr Brown was killed in the afternoon and yet the chef claimed he was making breakfast?
Hadith of the Month

Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good, or keep silent; and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbour; and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest.
