Dear  << Test First Name >>

The seasons are changing from warm to cold, or cold to warm, depending on where you are. I have been in Australia for more than half of my life now, and I still find this time of year confusing. Other seasons don’t seem to confuse me as much but for some reason, Autumn in April and May still feels really wrong – these are meant to be the months of spring…

Anyway, my internal annual clock aside, if you follow what I am up to on the Blog or Facebook, you could be forgiven to think I have gone into early hibernation - I have been very quiet these last few weeks. It is not because I am not doing anything, just that what I have been doing is not very exciting to share. The thing is that after a lot of stitching follow a lot of ‘other stuff’ to turn the designs into patterns and kits with not much to show & share.
The good news is that most of that ‘other stuff’  is now done,
Over the Pond is now in the Shop and the new (still nameless) piece of Goldwork is ready (apart from the name) and I am just waiting on the threads to arrive. While doing all of that, my notepad and other bits of paper are full of squiggles and doodles that may or may not develop into something in stitches, and I am itching to pick up my needle.

Stitch @ Gallery One
The Threadpainting cause at Gallery One started on Wednesday and it was awesome! The gallery was filled with quiet anticipation and a group of enthusiastic stitchers - before it was all heads down and the first stitches found their way onto fabric.

Painting with thread - short course

This Term we are stitching Over the Pond  which is really just a sampler….
I created it specifically to share the basic skills of long & short stitch as well as tips and tricks to get the best results from satin stitch. However, if you can make a sampler look pretty, I can’t see any reasons not to do so.

NEW - Wednesday night Stitch-along
When the short course finishes we will continue to meet for a Wednesday night Stitch-along. Come and join us to finish your project, get help if you are stuck or start something new.
WHEN: 7pm - 9.30pm, Wednesday 7, 14, 21, 28 June & 6 July
WHERE: Gallery One, 1 Torrens Rd, Mitcham
COST: $25 per session (includes Gallery Fee), payable on the night.

I was so excited to get the programme for the week in Les Carroz a few weeks ago. If you want to download it, just click HERE
I know August 2018 is miles away, but we all know too well how fast time flies....
This is such an intimate event with only has very limited places - 9 to be precise, unless you choose to share a room so we can fit a couple more. If you considering or intend to join me in the Alps, don’t leave it too late to book your
spot.
I know Nadine and Mark have already taken the first booking and enquiries, so if you are interested you can get in touch with them HERE or via Email.
~ ~ ~ ~   Bath Textile Summer Schoot 2018  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

As France is such a long way from Australia, so I am thrilled to be invited back to teach at the Bath Textile Summer School in August 2018 while I am ‘in the neighbourhood’...happy dance!
I had such a fabulous time there last year, so it is amazing to be able to do it all again. The programme is currently being finalised, but I can reveal that I will be teaching a 3-day raised embroidery course.
If you are interested in joining me (or some of the other fabulous tutors) keep an eye on their Website or sign up for the newsletter.

Changes & Upgrades
As you know, I use Etsy for my Fine Stitch Studio Shop. I originally decided to use Etsy as the platform for the shop mostly because it was easy… all the technical stuff is taken care of so I don’t have the try and manage that side of it.
Etsy is constantly improving the way it works to make it easier to use for both sellers and customers - in April two very important improvements were launched…
  • Firstly; Etsy launched Etsy Studio - dedicated purely to craft and supplies. A new, massive One Stop massive craft heaven. The brilliant thing about it is that all the shops remain on Etsy.com but us craft lovers and makers are now also on Etsy Studio.
  • Secondly; a really, really important change: The shop now accepts all major credit cards… making it so much easier to use for those who don’t have a Paypal account.

NEW KIT

Over the Pond - Silk Shading

The kits for my glittering dragonflies Over the Pond is now ready.
In the kit you will find: Detailed instruction booklet with plenty of diagrams; fabric with the design printed - ready to stitch, 13 luscious shades of stranded silk, metallic threads, beads and needles.  soie d’Alger stranded silk.
AU$75 + P&H
Order HERE
Over the Pond - pdf pattern
As with many of my other patterns, this is also available as an Instant Download Pattern.
The pattern includes thread conversions to DMC stranded cotton if you want to stitch it using your stash and the conversions are noted in brackets all through the instructions, to make it really easy to use. I taught this design using stranded cotton istead of silk and it came up a treat.  AU$8.50
When I started to write, I didn’t think I had a lot of news to share – but once I got started it kind of just went on and on, didn’t it?  If you managed to get to the end of this rather long-winded newsletter, I thank you for your patience and dedication!!
