Free Participation Network Events - May 2017

These regional participation networks are suitable for anyone working in the field of participation and citizen engagement.

Attendees come from a range of different organisations in the public and third sector that focus on a variety of issues. The events are suitable for anyone from any level within an organisation that has an interest in practical participatory work, including consultation officers, trustees, volunteers, development workers and managers.

These events are held 3 times per year and each round of events has a general theme or topic.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences that occur before the age of 18 and are remembered throughout adulthood. Evidence shows people who experience stressful and poor quality childhoods are more likely to develop health-harming and anti-social behaviours, more likely to perform poorly in school, more likely to be involved in crime and ultimately less likely to be a productive member of society.

Better and more meaningful engagement is needed in order to intervene early and prevent adverse childhood experiences from becoming a reality for more and more people. At these practitioner network events we will explore different methods of meaningful engagement with communities.

These practitioner networks are lively, participatory workshops which provide an opportunity for peers to engage, share and support each other.

All Wales Participation Network Event 2017

Hosted by Participation Cymru and supported by Public Health Wales, WLGA and Co-production Network Wales.

Cost: Free

Increasingly we are finding ourselves attending or being part of a plethora of networks, some have been in existence since the year dot whilst others pop up in response to a new idea or emerging trend. The purpose of networks is to create an environment, real or virtual, where people can come together to share ideas, collaborate and create something new.

Many people tell us that they are overwhelmed and confused by the number of networks out there and that it is often the same people who appear at each one. It’s all gone a bit crazy!!

The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act requires many public bodies to adopt the 5 Ways of Working, two of which are Involvement and Collaboration, both of which are at the heart of all we do as engagement practitioners.

SO…this year’s All Wales Network is all about Networks. What is out there? Are they fit for purpose? What is good practice? Is there scope for further collaboration and merger? If you are in the midst of the Networking knot then this is the event for you!
