Demand Permission to Trap on Private Property

View this email in your browser
Hello Minnesotan Wolf Advocates,

Did you know that in Minnesota, traps can be set on private property WITHOUT a land owner's permission?  Yes. stunning isn't it? But we can change this.

Right now we have a bill that requires trappers to request permission to trap on private property. And it has a lot of support in both the state House and the state Senate. In fact, the state Senate voted in favor of our bill (SF 1924) by a voice vote!  And even though the state House voted it down, it received a lot of support.

But this reform language was removed from the Omnibus Environment bill (HF 888) by a few members of the conference committee.

This common sense reform deserves a full vote by the entire legislature. To do this, we must have the language put back into the Omnibus Environment and Natural Resources Bill (HF 888).  This is why your action is needed today.

Click on our state TAKE ACTION page today to communicate with your lawmakers and Governor Dayton. Tell them that you want this common sense reform to require permission to trap on private land. Our letter explains this bill. We have the exact bill language in the action letter and in our latest news on the Howling For Wolves' website where you can also see how members of the state House voted to reform trapping. We need to give trapping control to the land owner without having to post "No Trespassing" signs annually!

The legislative session is nearing the end and time is of the essence so click today while the conference committee is still meeting!

Lawmakers and the Governor can persuade conference committee members to put this language requiring permission to trap on private lands back into the Omnibus Environment bill (HF 888).

Please help us make change and make it known that traps are being set on private property without land owners even knowing about it.

Let's push this now.  Take an action for the wolf and for the right to control trapping on private property!
