This weekend I decided spontaneous to race in Kalnica a downhill race. I just looked at the web page if the bike park is open already and then I saw that there is a race. Perfect for me because I have the Austrian DH champs in two weeks and the race was perfect to prepare. So I packed my stuff and Merlin with me and we drove to Slovakia. I know the Bike park very well and it is one of my favorites. I was a bit nervous to be honest because on the DH track I crashed very hard 2013 and because of this crash my tumor was found. And when I arrived there I heard that just the elite men are racing on this particularly DH track and the women have to race on another DH track an easier one. So I trained the easier one but also didn't want to miss to ride the more difficult one - just to be able to finish this chapter in my life.
My practice runs went fine and also my qualification. I placed third but I knew where I can get some seconds and so I worked on that and gained more then 3 seconds and found myself at the end on the first spot. I was very happy and had a great weekend.
My next race will be the downhill national champs in Austria in two weeks.
