MORE FEMALES THAN MALES GRADUATING AT DUT THIS AUTUMN


The Durban University of Technology will host its Durban graduation ceremonies from Monday, 8 May 2017 at the Fred Crookes Sports Centre, Steve Biko Campus. This follows the four successful ceremonies that DUT hosted in Pietermaritzburg two weeks ago.

The 2017 autumn graduation numbers have increased when compared to last year. A total number of 3209 female students are graduating this autumn whilst 2582 males that will receive their qualifications.

JUGGLING WORK AND STUDIES EARNS KARLA CUM LAUDE IN FINE ART

Despite facing challenges with her topic, Durban University of Technology Master’s Degree in Fine Art graduand, Karla Nixon, will graduate Cum Laude during the Faculty of Arts and Design’s graduation ceremony in Durban, on Tuesday (09 May 2017).

Nixon faced a few obstacles when she had to narrow down and decide on a topic for her thesis, juggling work and studies, she had to convince herself that research was not as complicated as she had feared.

PGA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE INAUGURATED AT DUT

The Durban University of Technology Post-Graduate Association (PGA) inaugurated its 2017 Executive Committee, members.

The inauguration ceremony took place today (Wednesday, 03 May 2017) at the Research Office’s boardroom, Steve Biko Campus. The association consists of 15 executive members, within those members, there are faculty representatives for each faculty.

LUCK TAKES POOE TO THAILAND

When Thato Pooe left Bloemfontein to study at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in 2015, little did he know that two years later he will be jetting off to Thailand.

The 25-year-old final year Computer Systems Engineering student left for Thailand this past weekend (28 April 2017) to start his Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at the Thailand branch of the Western Digital Corporation.

NSFAS

NSFAS URGENT NOTICE

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is calling on the 63 558 students who received funding and have not yet signed their loan agreement forms (LAFs) and schedules of (SOP), to do so at their respective universities and TVET colleges as soon as possible, or before May 31, 2017. Affected students could possibly face retraction of NSFAS funding if they fail to honour their funding obligation, although they are approved for the 2017 funding.
