Haven Peer Advisory Forum

We're proud to announce the launch of our Peer Advisory Forum. Women meet each month with the Senior Management Team, Chief Executive and Board to design services. The Group started in January and has been going from strength to strength.

In our next newsletter, find out about the journey taken by
women to become members of the Peer Advisory Forum.
Supporting the most isolated women

The Haven have recently been successful with funding from the DCLG as part of a regional specialist consortium bid. The funding is enabling us to run a project supporting women with no recourse to public funds. Since the beginning of the project we have been running at full capacity.

To make a referral, call our 24hr helpline or email referralpoint@havenrefuge.org.uk
Our Girl

The Haven has delivered the Our Girl campaign as part of the West Mids Specialist Domestic Abuse Consortium.

‘Our Girl’ is a forced marriage prevention film that acts as a central resource for the Our Girl national prevention and awareness campaign, raising awareness with the clear message that forcing someone to marry against their will is a breach of basic human rights.
Living Wage

The real cost of living in the UK is £8.45 per hour and at The Haven we're committed to ensuring we meet this for our staff. As such we're delighted to be part of the Living Wage Foundation and to announce that we pay all permanent and sessional staff above the real living wage amount.
Sexual Violence - A Specialist Service

The Haven provides sensitive one to one support to female victims/survivors of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse, including:

• 24 hour confidential helpline
• Independent Sexual Abuse Advisor (ISVA)
• Counselling and one to one support
• Women only safe space
• Support Groups in a confidential environment
• Emergency stay in refuge if required
• Visual Evidence – we can take photographs of injuries

Just our cup of tea

Big thank you to everyone who took part in our week of coffee mornings and the inflatable run during the last couple of weeks. So far we’ve raised £1,614 with more still coming in.

Training Dates

We have a range of training throughout the rest of 2017, from modern slavery, to FGM, and understanding controlling and coercive behaviours. Spaces are filling up quickly so don't miss out.

Handy with a Hammer?

As a volunteer in our maintenance team you will be part of our busy and experienced Property Management department.

The role is varied and duties range from painting, heavy cleaning, low-level carpentry, basic plumbing, and supporting safety and security. The schedule will be planned, organised and supervised by our Property management Officer. Opportunities exist at each of our seven locations across Wolverhampton.
