Good morning, <<First Name>>!

We're delighted to announce that Japan was awarded Best Skiing Destination in International Traveller magazine's Readers' Choice Awards!

Appropriately, Japan had the largest presence of any single region at the Snow Travel Expos in both Sydney and Melbourne! Thank you to everyone who came out to visit us at either Expo or at our Adventure Travel Marts last week.

Insider Tip #22: Smoking & Non-smoking areas
Many accommodation properties in Japan still have smoking and non-smoking rooms. In some cases, if non-smoking rooms aren't available, even if you select and book a non-smoking room, the room provided may be a smoking room which has been deodorised with either a spray or an appliance. Be sure to double-check what the property you're booking offers by way of guarantee in regards to this choice.

Many restaurants, cafes, and bars also still have smoking and non-smoking areas, especially (but not exclusively) in smaller cities. There is a slow shift towards banning smoking in these facilities (Starbucks proudly bans smoking in all of their Japanese shops, and some restaurants have started to follow suit), but it's good to be aware that you may still find yourself being asked your preference before being seated. The phrase "no smoking" will get your point across, but if you want to impress, learn the phrase "kin-en" (smoking prohibited) to voice your request.
