Insight

"There is a LIGHT in this world. A healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is suffering, and too much pain. Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways."

– Richard Attenborough
 Dear <<Name>>
What are our intentions with God? Do we want more of God or just enough to get by? I personally believe God wants more of us, not less. God doesn’t need our piety or self-righteousness. For sure God doesn’t need another external sacrifice; but self-sacrifice would be nice. If your intentions are to be spiritually fit, spiritually full of God, then you may want to take a dance with God, who, by the way, likes to lead.

As we dance with God we will find that God is very interested in our moves and in our souls. God is invested in our lives here and in eternity! Too many times we may look at God in a legalistic way instead of seeing God as the leader of love. As we grow and learn of the ways of God we learn to lean on the Spirit of God. We must remember the things that concern God ought to concern us. If we are to live into the best practice of God, and I believe we are called to do that, we are obligated to insist on the practice of love. Our purpose reminds us we are called to love God and love others. When we love, it is more than just saying the words. It is showing up. It is only then that the love of God is visible in our actions.

I don’t know what words I could pen that would make any difference. I do, however, hope that how I live my life is an example of God’s love, hope and justice. I am optimistic that you can learn to dance into the power of God as you share the testimony of your life! In order for us to reach others it will require you to stand in community, with friends and strangers alike. Stand for those things that build up instead of tear down. Stand for things you believe in and stand with others as they believe. It has been said that when you know better you do better and that has to be true for Spirituality as well.

As people of faith we have so much to offer others! As we heal, grow, learn and share we can promote these gifts to those who have felt left out. I believe with all of my heart that we can bring the healing hope of Jesus to those who are hurting. Even those among us who need a safe place to recover and heal from the past. Receiving the healing we need brings with it a call of compassion to share that with others. We must learn to cast our cares on God and face the grace as we move beyond the past.

Today let me encourage you to work out the grievances you may have with others, to work out those places that trip you up! Get clarity for your own life by seeking forgiveness for the things you’ve done, or haven’t done! The faster you take care of these things the better off you will be! I am clear that God is not finished with us, not by a long shot! God is not finished with you!

Let us be seekers of God first and let the Spirit guide us into the deep.
