EHMA 2017 Annual Conference, considering the topic of Health Futures, will be held from 13th - 15th June in Milan, Italy, hosted by Bocconi University.

EHMA is delighted to have the Chief Executive of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, Sir David Sloman as a Keynote Speaker at EHMA 2017 Annual Conference.

Sir David is listed as being one of the top five most influential Chief Executive's in the English National Health Service and for his Plenary Speech in Milan he will be sharing with the Conference his views on
big data and the future of healthcare. Drawing upon the innovative partnership that his hospital has forged with the Google’s DeepMind, Sir David will be outlining details of the work that is drawing upon cutting edge innovation in artificial intelligence research and which is being presented for the first time outside the UK.

Last week, EHMA's Director Usman Khan had the chance to meet with Sir Sloman to discuss and reflect on
changes in healthcare and its impact on the hospital of the future and we are glad to share with you a short podcast of the conversation that you can listen or download simply by clicking on the link below.

Is Your Healthcare Organisation Ready For Transformation?

The European Health Management Association is pleased that it will be working with The Good Governance Institute at our up coming Annual Conference in Milan. The Good Governance Institute is a not for profit company that focusses on supporting organisational improvement through the use of best practice in governance. In Milan the GGI Team will be presenting the results of a survey undertaken with European partners to assess the current state of play with respect to governance in health care.

In addition to their workshop in Milan, I was also recently asked by GGI Chief Executive, Andrew Corbett-Nolan to join him to discuss the issue of how Boards can best support the quality improvement agenda. The following video is part of a series that can be found on Good Governance TV and in it I introduce the idea of opening the communication channels from ‘Board to Ward’ not simply as a means to provide accountability and protect again the risk of adverse incidents, but also as a channel to deliver service improvements.

EHMA @ the eHealth Week 2017

Last week, EHMA Policy and Project Officer,
Michele Calabrò was in Malta to attend the 2017 edition of the eHealth Week, organised by HIMSS Europe, the European Commission and the Maltese Presidency of the European Union.

The eHealth week has covered a broad range of topics and themes connected to the future of health. Thus, it was the perfect occasion to meet and discuss with professionals from all over Europe in view of the upcoming EHMA Annual Conference on Health Futures, but also to share information about our involvement in EU-funded projects.

EHMA has shared the key moments of the eHealth week through a special live-tweeting from Malta; hence make sure to follow us on Twitter @EHMAinfo not to miss our updates!

News from the Bubble

Healthcare systems are facing unprecedented challenges and new concepts around value-based healthcare have entered into the policy debate in Europe.

To discuss this topic, EHMA took part in a expert workshop in Brussels, organised by Third-I and focused on the current and future challenges related to
value-based procurement of medical devices used in the hospital setting. To know more about the workshop outcomes, presentations and exchanges,
check out the meeting summary and do not hesitate to contact us to get further information on this theme.

Alongside value-based procurement, we would also like to share with you one of the main results of the Chrodis Joint Action on chronic diseases, another one of the key topic being discussed in the EU arena. Visit now the
Chrodis platform to discover and share best practices from Europe and beyond!
Health Management Masterclasses at EHMA 2017 Annual Conference
