The Shortcuts Scoop!

You already know that Dragon Redeemer releases on May 23rd! The pre-order for the ebook is up, and the paperback will be available on release day. But there's another piece of news that you get to hear about first:

I'm excited to announce that my fourth book will be published with Curiosity Quills Press in 2018!  It's called Shortcuts, and it's a light science fiction lower YA story with a very different feel than my other books, for a slightly older audience. The summary is below, and you can be the first to watch my video announcement here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCboKCmfGLI.
It'll be up on my Facebook page and webpage in late May.

About Shortcuts.

High school freshman Parker Mills can’t fix her own problems, but she’s fab at fixing everyone else’s. She was born with a secret weapon: a supernatural ability to feel the emotions of others. Whenever possible, she provides subtle shortcuts to happiness by serving as tutor, coach, and matchmaker. Parker’s parents might divorce and her long-time crush sees her as just a buddy, but she’ll do anything to eliminate the pain of others. When they suffer, she does, too.

Parker’s three besties have unique gifts, too, thanks to the fertility drug trial all four sets of parents participated in. When new girl Mia arrives, one of the friends sees a vision in which Mia has an epic grief-fueled meltdown that exposes all four psychics, leading to lives spent as unwilling test subjects. Luckily, visions are warnings, not promises. Since happiness is Parker’s gig, she takes on the mission to save them all.

Unfortunately, Mia’s got more issues than Teen Vogue, and Parker's usual shortcuts turn out to be dead ends. But if Mia doesn’t move beyond her painful past before the lights go out at the Halloween Dance, Parker and her friends will end up on the wrong side of a science lab.

About Our Family

It looks like we'll be back in San Antonio this summer.  We're just waiting on official orders, after everything was frozen and delayed from federal freeze. However, Jonathan has a position at Randolph AFB, so we are proceeding as best we can to prepare for a summer move.

I'm very much looking forward to coming back home! Yay!
This coming year, I will be available for school author visits. Information on presentations and pricing can be found on my website. If you are interested in having me speak to your child's school, feel free to mention it to your school's librarian or the head of the English department. I am also happy to visit libraries, book groups, and offer free 20 minute Skype visits for teachers--details on my webpage.

Rome for Spring Break

We had a great last trip to Italy over Spring Break. We visited Rome and spent a lot of time learning about ancient Rome. I did a lot of great research for a future upper MG project I hope to start soon!

Upcoming events

The librarian at Ramstein Middle School is graciously hosting me for a book signing on June 9th.  You can purchase copies of my books here (for less than on Amazon) or bring your own copies for to sign. Every student who stops by the library during their lunch while I'm there will get a signed Dragon Redeemer bookmark. I'm also giving away keychains with a dragon on them, so if you are a student at RSM, drop by and put your name in the student drawing for your grade level. No purchase necessary!
Thank you so much for staying connected! I send my newsletters out quarterly, so if you want an update before the fall, remember you can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I'm posting more videos these days, so I'd love to get your comments on those. And sharing is always appreciated!
