Words are hard to describe this past week of training at the Ugandan Christian University. It feels like a positive turning point in our short life.
We took the staff on field trips to three different settings (the Youth Remand Home, Women's prison and Men's prison) where Wise Choices for Life has been working (no recordings or photos allowed).
It was unanimous that the church needs to break the code of silence about sexual reproductive health and family planning to prevent the endless cycle of crime and poverty.
I spoke to a lady at the little church we went to here in Mbale who asked me "Does God allow family planning?" She has five children of her own and her second husband has eight so she wanted to see what the church thought.
It is so important that faith, culture and science mix well so people can make their own wise choices in life.This needs to be a discussion led by Pastors and church leaders who understand how conception, pregnancy, birth and family planning work.
We appreciate your words of encouragement and prayers for continued safe delivery of the training as we travel to some hard places.
