Update - Moving to new community arrangements

1. Feedback from ‘The future of Neighbourhood Partnerships – local decision making models for discussion’ paper and consultation

Many thanks for the feedback to the initial discussion paper. Your feedback has informed the proposals that will go forward for formal consultation

The consultation will now be starting on the 9th June which is immediately after the general election and will form part of a bigger consultation about a range of council services

We have therefore decided to postpone the city-wide networking event which we had planned for 20th May. The City Council will arrange something with our partners for early July and will confirm the date as soon as possible

2.Transition Plans

Thanks also for the work you have done so far to think about where you want to be in the future and what support you think you will need to get there

As you would expect, some neighbourhood networks are able to get on a do the things they want to while others need more support

The City Council have had an initial look through and there are some clear themes including -how to run an effective community space/network/event; how to work in a way which is more inclusive; access to information and access to city council officers

The City Council are working with partners over the next couple of weeks to develop an offer of support in response to these requests. This will take account of the officer support the Neighbourhoods service have remaining in the team as well as the resources VOSCUR and other organisations can provide. When  the Neighbourhoods service can share our proposals we will confirm who will be the lead link with each area from a City Council point of view

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either Mike Lawlor, Neighbourhood Officer, or myself
