EVENT EXPERIENCE DESIGN News

Welcome back to Event Experience Design News!
In this edition, we introduce a multi-disciplinary festival that looks into the processes behind innovation, share the stage design we spotted at this years re:publica as well as a tool for audience interaction.

.process — The Process Behind Innovation

PROCESS17 is a multi-disciplinary festival, looking at the *how* of innovation: where do new ideas come from? How can creatives work together more efficiently? How to deal with failure? What role does technology play in all this?

In interactive workshops and talks .process will look at these questions and open up a space to discuss ideas, meet new people and gain perspective along the way.
This year’s topic is “Play”. Expect game designers, tinkerers, gamblers, hackers, and directors to share their stories and learnings with a diverse and fun crowd. PROCESS17 will take place on June 3rd in Dortmund.

Scenograhy & Stage Design: re:publica 2017

Photos: Gregor Fischer, Jan Zappner, Jan Michalko for re:publica

“Love Out Loud!” was the motto at re:publica 17 which focused on those who stand up against hate, violence and injustice by raising their voices out loud. In line with the motto and talks, panels and discussions, stage design played an important role: signs, stage boards and the conference navigation system and booths were reminiscent of an ongoing protest — a demonstration dedicated to those who courageously defend and support human rights throughout the world.

Resources: Audience Interaction

We also saw Slido in action at re:publica. Slido is a tool for audience interaction during talks or panel discussions. The web-app lets participants ask questions from any device (no app download required) and vote for the questions they like the most.
To get an idea of how it works, check out the conversation with Gesche Joost on "Innovate Against Populism - Kann human-centered Design die Demokratie retten?".
