Anna Freeman
Local author of 'The Fair Fight'
Anna will talk to us about female boxers in 18th Century Britain and attitudes to women in sport. The Fair Fight is set in Bristol and is being made into a film. So come and hear her speak before it hits the big screen.
We'll also have all out latest national and local WI business as well as news on our fundraising. We will also need to dedicate part of the evening to debate the two shortlised NFWI resolutions for 2018, Alleviating loneliness and Plastic Soup: Keep microplastic fibres out of our ocean.

Fundraising
Over £500 raised at Mayfest
Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event such a success and start off our fundraising for The Hive so well. A particular thank you goes to Martine, who was at the event all day selling, setting up and packing away! A huge thank you to everyone else who helped or baked.
The enamel badges are here!
You may have had a sneaky peek at these if you made it to the Mayfest, but we now have Laura's winning design made up and will have these on sale at the next meeting exclusively for members at £5 each, bring your cash!
The Big Charity Quiz Night
The quiz night this year will be the 6th October, tickets cost £10 and include a choice of four main meals and your quiz entry. Don't worry if you don't have a team, just come along and we can make a team up on the night. Partners, friends, family all welcome. Raffle and ticket purchases all in aid of this year's charity The Hive. Tickets on sale at the next meeting.
Cakes & Bakes at Meetings
This is going really well but please don't forget to keep signing up and buying them on the night!
