May is National Historic Preservation Month — a great time to spotlight local historic preservation. Anniston is filled with architectural gems, from Victorian “painted ladies" to historic churches to its historic districts. Learn more about Anniston's history when local historian Kim Dobbs conducts a walking tour of the Downtown Historic District during the May Makers’ Market on Friday, May 26 at 6:00 PM. Monument Celebration

Ceremony begins at 4 PM
11th and Gurnee Ave., Anniston, AL
The official ceremony recognizing the designation of Freedom Riders National Monument. Meet & greet with Freedom Riders and our new National Park Service ranger. Live music, food and craft vendors, presentations by area youth, passport stamp station, activities for children and more. Visit annistonal.gov for helpful links and an event site map.

The Passport To Your National Parks® program will be available during this weekend's Monument Celebration. Visitors can get their National Park Service passports stamped with the official Freedom Riders National Monument cancellation stamp!
